Aug Diva Dare - A Birthday Wish

So happy to have a computer again after 2 weeks of nothing since my computer crashed...I went to turn on my computer and all I got was a black screen and was not happy that I lost everything I had on it, but I am happy that I can post my card for the Diva Dare Challenge. Although I'm borrowing a computer for now until I figured what to get and it's a challenge learning how to use it compared to mine. Moving on......

Here I used Mojo Monday Sketch 305 designed by Julee Tilman which I thought would be perfect for layers as per the challenge.

This month's Diva Dare challenge:
This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Andrea (Ewen Style), and Diva Christyne (Stampin' with Sugar).  Both Divas are known for the wonderful way they can add layer upon layer on a card.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using lots of layers.

If you want to kick this month's dare up a notch, you can add a flower cluster as per Diva Andrea, or go with a "sweet" theme as per Diva Christyne's blog name "Stamping with Sugar".  These are not required elements, but fun options should you wish to use them.  Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!

Here is my card below:
Got to use some new DSP called Modern Medley by SU along with some new Verve stamps I acquired. This cute flower set is called: Sunny Days and I used the Goodness Flowers Die Set to help me cut it out.

Yes, I was playing around with different dies to see what could help me cut this cute flower and I found that the die is a perfect fit for the larger flower of this set. Tight but works.... For the smaller flower, I fuzzy cut around and popped it on top using foam mount. The sentiment comes from Verve: Joyful Blooms
As far as layers, I used Well Worn Die-namics from MFT and Spellbinders Labels 18 for the sentiment area using Crumb Cake CS, Cherry Cobbler, and than Whisper White. Sponge Daub using Pink before adding the sentiment in Black. For the leaves, I used Old Olive CS and Old Olive ink, fuzzy cut and layered underneath the flowers. Added red button to finish it off.

If you would like to join the fun, click here to go directly to the challenge and have some fun creating. Now off to see what I've missed with Viva La Sketch and the current Mojo Monday sketch to have some more fun playing with colors and layouts.

Viva La Sketch - Congratulations

I'm late on posting this for VLVJul2013Week and for whatever reason, I didn't start in order for the sketches in July, so this post is July's Week 1 of Viva La Sketch Challenge, designed by Amber Hight over at Splitcoaststampers . Will get on track for August upcoming sketches.

Here is my card:
Made this card as a Congratulations for my daughter and the grand opening of one of the new PINK stores from Victoria Secret out in Northridge, CA tomorrow August 3rd. Her and her team have worked really hard and long hours, so wanted to make something with pink and bright colors to get a smile.

Love this DSP paper on top, but not sure what the name is, but for the base and mats, I used Island Indigo (SU) and the Island Indigo DSP from the Regal Pack (SU). Playing with more stamps that I bought from Verve, the cute butterfly is from the set: So Fluttery and I used A Cut Above Die Flutterby to cut it out along with Melon Mambo inkFor the sentiment, I used the set Let it Be which has some fabulous sentiments and flowers which I plan on using for more upcoming cards.
My Spellbinders Lacey Circle dies were used for the center circle and added foam mount under to pop it up. Also added basic rhinestones in the center of the butterfly. So excited yesterday when I saw the hugh sale over at Verve which is celebrating 6 years that I went crazy buying more stamps and dies on my wish list and forgot to finish my other cards for the month of July.  Enjoy and give it a try!
